Meooowzer Baby!

0

cat illustration with blue eyes
Hiya all!

We've got new ACEO's online and they're illustrated in pen and ink. Fun fun fun! M says they take time, but she likes the fine details one can get with pen & ink.

Today, I saw another baby gopher. Poor thing popped it's little cocoa head out of the top soil and looked around just in time to catch me peering at it. I, being the kind and lazy dog I am, let the teeny creature feel top of the world by not giving chase. Plus, who needs a muddy face when there's a fresh cup of mocha coffee in the house?

Speaking of which, it's time for some cartoons. Beep beep!

Oh, hey, almost forgot. I learned something today. For those Appleworks devotees and novices alike, I found a neat trick my eyes really appreciated. At the bottom left corner of a spreadsheet document, there are two icons of a small mountain and a large mountain. Hit the large mountain and ta da baby! The document zooms in for those late nights when you're eyes tire. Then, hit the small mountain to zoom out.

I can't believe I missed this little doozy for so many years. Yikes! Well, I hope it'll help someone. Let me know if it does. :-)

iPod Zombies: Pombies?

0

Pombie the iPod Zombie
I recently heard the phrase "iPod Zombies," which originated in a New York Village Voice (I think) article. Now, I'm a huge fan of Apple, but I just had to play around with my paws (ie the above image).

So, the zombie aspect got me thinking. It's true! I see so many people with white earbuds in their ears as they walk, jog, skateboard, rollerblade, shop, drive, and even gardening. As a dog, I'm kind of invisible, but with earbuds, I can sneak right up on these "iPod Zombies." So much fun!

Being they have grown in exponential numbers lately (even the carpool lane!), I've come up with my own term for the earbud-wearing-white-wires-hanging-from-ears-oblivious-to-the-world-around-them-as-they-imbibe-iTunes-at-an-alarming-rate.

Pombies. Yes, you heard it hear first. Pombies are now walking the Earth! Incredibly (not really), movies like Dawn of the Dead, Night of the Living Dead, Day of the Dead, and 28 Days Later come to mind. Most new zombie flicks pay homage to George Romero with a "Dead Walk the Streets" plastered across a newspaper headline. Often the paper will be crumpled, tattered, splattered with blood and strewn in an empty street (for example, Resident Evil at the end of the movie). I wonder if it's inevitable...

I've seen them...and then it got me thinking of yet another movie. They. Great sci-fi flick where the main characters discover (*SPOILER ALERT*), through the use of special sunglasses, that aliens are living and breathing among them. Subliminal messages from the aliens to humans can be seen with the use of the glasses (ie the word Obey on the screen above--you can see it, right? :-))

Ok, so maybe Pombies are not zombies at all. Maybe (and I'm just using my doggie mind here), maybe they are using iPods to detect who and who is not from another planet??

Now, that is a scary thought...

Where are my earbuds? Do they make doggie earbuds? Oh no.....I was wrong. Pombies are on the sidewalk. I see two, no make that three. They wear jeans and t-shirts, but the dangling wires and listless eyes give them away. I think I hear "Pretty Vegas" coming from one of them.

Brains! They want brains. I'm afraid they're going to be disappointed with my entree. :-)

The Contents of a Purse

0

Westie Dog with keys Painting
M let me peek inside her purse and boy oh boy! Shiny keys that unlock cars, doors to rooms, and even a button thing that makes the four wheeler go "beep beep" from far far away! She had a stick of red stuff, tasted like candle wax and smelled like cherries. I got some on my fur too. What a mess, I tell ya.
Little slips of paper that I wasn't allowed to tear to shreds, of course. And then shiny little flat pieces of metal with portraits. Fun discs I call 'em! They make tink noises when they spill onto a marble floor. Some even spin and roll under chairs when I gave chase and bopped them with my nose.

I never knew a purse could be so much fun. More! Let's head to the mall...I bet there are a lot there for me to check out.
Hey, here's a thought, a doggie purse. I could store my license (it tends to jingle and gives me away when I'm up to something (or so they tell me) and I could put a handy pen and pad of paper for when I'm feeling...poetic.

Ok, a Birkin Bag for moi. It'd be a good thing.

Spring Gratitude

1

Westie Dog with flowers
Don't you just love the day when there are cyan blue skies, fluffy cream whipped clouds, and new blossoms all around? The Black Phoebes are chirping, the large coal black Crows are perching on street lights like asphalt lifeguards and bees can be heard buzzing from the bushes.

What are you grateful for today?

Hmm...
Barking dogs would like to know. :-)

I'll keep you informed as soon as I know the details. Until then, smell those double delight roses and enjoy the fluffy white clouds. I'll be posting a little more often in a few days.

Oscars: Am I the Only One?

0

oscar statue
Am I the only one who looks forward to the montage of photos and video clips memoralizing those actors and actresses who have passed away in the last year? I always look forward to seeing "for whom the bell has tolled." I'm not being all melancholy, I just like remembering each one. It's sad and beautiful all at the same time. I may not have known them, but through the talkies I felt like I did!

Ok, just checking. Enjoy the red carpet, I'm off to get me some nummies to munch on and watch some horror flicks (I like to PIP the awards show).

The Ants Go Marching One by One

0

orchid closeup
I have had this song stuck in my head all day long. I think it's the fever. I also had my nose burrowed into a muddy hole and managed to find a sunflower pod with dried sunflower seeds. What fun! I ran around the yard and shook the pod and dug at the dried cluster until seeds began popping out. Then, being a proud pup, I dragged the pod (stem and all) to the back porch and placed my treasure atop a pile of warm folded jeans in a wicker laundry basket.

And you know what? I even followed a couple of ants, but they didn't seem to want to play with me after my black button nose chased them across the cobblestone path. I sniffed out an orchid blossom though and the lip kept bopping me as I licked at the pretty petals.

Welp, I shall try my nose with ants again tomorrow.

I just realized how unorganized my thoughts are... Now, if you know this, that's good, right? If I didn't notice, I'd be dog gone bonkers. Hmmm...

Cookies? Did someone say coooooookies?
