Would you like cream and sugar?

boston terrier drinking coffee
Well, it's been a long week, hasn't it?

Things are looking better. I got some sleep, but could use a few more doggie naps. How about you? Anyway, I best be trotting off. I have a walk around the block planned with my pal Mocha. He's been in the doldrums because he's trying to cut back on his caffeine intake. Needless to say, his fur looks flat and his tongue lags a little to the side...so I'm hoping a warm cup o' joe will do the trick.

I tell ya, one should never deny themselves coffee. For goodness sake, it's my lifeblood.

Oopsie! Doctor, Doctor...

0

Well, I've been a busy busy doggie this past weekend. Not good busy either.

To my regular reader (I like to think of you as my Peachy Keen Pal), I will probably not be able to post regularily for about a week. :-( We've been going back-and-forth to the hospital for a human among us. Keep those fingers crossed that everything turns out ok.

I will say this. Isn't it strange how not much else matters when someone you love isn't feeling well? Priorities become clearer right away. Like a snap (and it's not like I can snap with my paws very easily either!).

Anyway, I'm going to go grab some shut eye. Been up late and my doggie ears are hanging low.

Happy 300th Birthday Benjamin Franklin !

0

Benjamin Franklin Birthday

Happy Birthday!

I wonder what Mr. Franklin would have thought of the times we live in? I often wonder why so many frown on looking back. History is important. Not to be forgotten. And yet, some say "don't live in the past." Why, I wonder do they toss the past away so easily? Perhaps they have not the simple wisdom of any domesticated dog. The past, be it the history of our own United States, or your own years on Earth, are to be learned from. To be cherished. To reflect upon.

Ah yes, maybe those who dismiss history without a second thought are in fact, "doomed to repeat it" in a "Groundhog Day" sort of way. :-)

The Sounds of Sunday

0

As I rested on the cold cement patio this evening, I heard many sounds. I perked one dog ear to catch the flurry of a siren as the ambulance drove past on the road a couple blocks over. The siren paused and eventually faded off beyond the reach of my radar abilities.

Tucking my paws under my chest, I tipped my head to listen to the hum of traffic. Cars zooming home on Sunday night. Or away from the city to the mountains for a snow day tomorrow. I could imagine the red tail lights blurring at high speed on one side as the others blended blue and white into a synchronized patriotic highway.

The hum of engines and tires slapping the asphalt tickled the air with an almost static resonance that I could feel as it passed under my paws and up through the cement beneath me.

A few moments later, I succumbed to the urge to let my head topple over and rest. The sun had just left pink streaks in the sky, which twirled among the white clouds to create a sorbet for my eyes. A sweet mourning dove landed at the bird feeder basin a few feet away. I watched as she dipped her head cautiously below the rim to peck at the seeds. She kept her eye on me as she ate. I kept still, not even twitching my tail in response.

Her cooing made my eyes flutter. The soft sound slipped down the pink skin lining my ear and felt warm. My heart slowed and managed to beat in tune with each coo I heard. At last, just as I had tuned into the symphony of the night she played only for me, it ended in a flutter of hurried wings. The flaps of grey brought seed husks flying in a swirl above the basin. She rustled past the lemon tree, sending a sweet fragrance of summer my way as she disappeared into a high perch somewhere in the Italian Cypress across the field.

I wondered what had frightened her, but didn't see a hawk as had happened before. Perhaps the arrival of darkness sent her home. I flicked my ear down to block out the traffic once again.

Yes, the sounds of this Sunday made for a sweet melody I won't forget. I soon headed inside for a warm bed in front of a roaring fire. I hope the dove will return again for an encore.

Acronyms r the BomB, LOL

0

I never realized how many acronyms I use, until Mocha made me aware today.

On a walk around the block, we were looking at a new lavender plant that we had yet to sniff and admire, when I saw a crow waddling over to do the same. I almost said LOL instead of laughing. When I mentioned this to Mocha, he replied, "How peculiar PJ."

Lol. ROFL. ASAP. There are tons of them everywhere!

Curious how my mind now wants to abbreviate to save time? Or maybe saving space is the consequence.

2006

0

It's interesting to note that I keep finding 2005 noted here and there and I have to revise the item. Be it a check (VOID!), a letter (Yes, I still write actual letters by paw), an email, or html.

I must have fur on the brain. Or is that a furry brain in my case? Not sure.

Eternal

0

abstract painting titled Eternal

Well, we finally relisted this unique 3 panel painting. M and M don't often paint abstracts and even rarer is a collaboration on a piece together (they always are working on so many individually, that it's hard to make time to collaborate!). The love of the beach brought about the inspiration.

So, what's been going on? The New Year brought a TON of new toys. This dog has been playing with all sorts of nifty toys. And yet, I still hold true to my first toy ever...a small stuffed rabbit. It holds a special place in my doggie heart. I am most careful when teething my rabbit toy and I always gently lift the small ragged body in between my powerful (ok, I have little teeth, but I can dream!) steel jaws and carry my wabbit to my doggie bed each and every night.

Mocha, a doggie pal of mine, has quite a time with my wabbit. He's a regular comedian. A sort of Jerry Seinfeld in the dog world. Anyhow, he says my wabbit has seen better days. But I disagree. My wabbit is booteeful.

Happy 2006!
